many other automatic transmissions - you get no sudden and unexpected downshifts when you reduce speed.

Turning Your Buick Into A Work Horse

Wherevever maximum forward thrust is needed - to move a heavy trailer, to start an unusually heavy load up a steep grade, to give some other car a push, or wherever you need extra pull - move the selector to LOW. Here you have maximum forward power and pull, but still with Dynaflow's absolute smoothness and sensitivity of control.

"Rocking" Out of Snow, Mud or Sand

No other transmission in the world makes "rocking" so easy as Dynaflow. (And that goes for standard shift transmission too.)

Here's all there is to it. "Rev up" the engine to slightly more than idling speed. Pull the Dynaflow selector toward you and then move it back and forth between LOW and REVERSE positions with no change in engine speed.

And when you try it, you'll notice that you can move the selector freely back and forth between DRIVE and LOW. However, you must lift up on the selector for REVERSE, NEUTRAL or PARK. This is a safety feature to prevent you from slipping into the wrong selector setting by mistake. When the Dynaflow selector is in LOW or REVERSE position you are automatically in high performance range.

Even the Controls are new in 1955

Buick owners will find Dynaflow controls even more functional and easy to operate this year.

The Dynaflow selector lever has been redesigned for operation with finger-tip ease.

Farther down, closer to the dash on the new slender, streamlined steering column, you'll see the Dynaflow shift indicator. Its five easy-to--read block letters stand for the five Dynaflow selector positions - Park, Neutral, Drive, Low and Reverse

NOTE:

As an added safety precaution, your Buick's engine can only be started with the selector set in either Park or Neutral.

Park locks the transmission, which is an extra protection against rolling when a car is parked on an incline, which few other cars provide. Even though Buicks have the exclusive StepOn parking brake, which Buick owners have found highly satisfactory,:
